KATIE AND MARK | BREAKWATER WEDDING | PERTH WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY

How is it heading towards the end of January already?? I hope you all had a nice Christmas and New Year break! I managed to sneak away in that week to camp in Albany and go trail running and rock climbing. It was an awesome adventure and Albany sure turned on the nice weather for us. Coming back to reality was a little hard after climbing up sea cliffs at West Cape Howe and scrambling over gorgeous granite at Peak Head, as well as running along the Bibbulmun Track and the Bald Head Walk Trail (highly recommended hike!!).

This year is going to be huge for me, I'm so excited. In June, James and I are taking Charlie (my 10yo) to Europe for 3 months to catch up with my family in the UK and, you guessed it, do more rock climbing and running. I have two races: one in the Dolomites in Italy and one across Snowdonia in North Wales. How lucky am I?? I seriously can't wait. But in the meantime, I have 5 months of amazing weddings coming my way with some super duper clients. Oh and I'll have a 17yo in a few months who is going to Mongolia for a month with school and World Challenge. He is one lucky kid as well!

It's booking season at the moment - yay if you got engaged at Christmas!!! - and I'm having about 3 meetings a week for new clients and starting to book weddings for 2019 already. Sometimes it's hard in this business to think that far ahead. I even received an enquiry for 2020, so some people are seriously well organised. Kudos to you! I'm also seeing a few later bookings for March and May this year so that's brilliant. I still have two Saturdays free in April, so hit me up if you're looking for a wedding photographer!

However, as I ramble on, this blog post is all about the lovely Katie and Mark, who invited me to share in their wedding day a week before Christmas. It really was a perfect day from start to end: amazing weather, vendors, bridal party, family and friends and venue. The Breakwater is a great venue for any reception but I love the cocktail receptions at the front, overlooking the harbour. It's a great atmosphere. The food was awesome and the staff were just lovely. If they are kind to me, a vendor, you know they're going to be incredible for you, the client.

The ceremony was at Oahu Gardens in Hillarys. I hadn't shot there before and ordinarily it might have been a bit bright for an earlier ceremony, but we had some amazing clouds overhead which gave a lovely soft light for the whole thing. Woohoo! One of my fave celebrants in Perth, Dilhari Mahiepala (Kiss Me You Fool) conducted the ceremony and was her usual fabulous self. I love how she caters for your personality and life together, rather than sticking to some traditional view of what a ceremony should be. Just remember, it's your day!!

Also a big shout out to Entwined Botanical and Little Olive Tree who styled the arbor and floral arrangements at the ceremony. Absolutely stunning! Without further rambling, here is the full blog post:
