PERTH WEDDING | ACQUA VIVA AND MATILDA BAY WEDDING
This wedding in Perth just stole my heart. Bec and Justin booked me yonks ago for their Thursday wedding in March and I was so happy when the day finally rolled around. They have been together for a long time, through thick and thin, hard times and good. With two little people to look after, the wedding was ultra special. The kids even had their own 'signing' so they felt part of the ceremony, along with a butterfly release. The love that these two have for each other, it is so tangible and they are just a force to be reckoned with. They are a team and I know they will always have each other's back.
Emotion is always a big part of why I do what I do. I am a complete sook and often get teary behind the camera and Bec and Justin's day was no exception. Their ceremony at Matilda Bay foreshore saw their little boy get quite overwhelmed and emotional at seeing his mummy and daddy tie the knot... it was the sweetest thing. With the camera up to my eye, I hid the sudden water in my eyes and resisted the urge to go and give him a big hug haha! Bless his cotton socks. His big sister was right there looking after him before it all became a bit much and he ran to Nanny after delivering the rings.
It was quite a warm day and since it was a lunchtime wedding, we did cop a bit of the blazing sun. Along with the sunshine though, came a dolphin show right behind us in the river during the family portraits, and the chance to go somewhere new for me, the Narrows Bridge. Suddenly I found the best place to shoot in Perth on a scorching day!
The mood was fun and frivolous at the lunch at Acqua Viva in Nedlands, with a gorgeous cocktail set up, a photobooth, funny and heartfelt speeches and some excellent dance moves. Cue second emotional moment of the day when Bec and Justin danced with their little people and I suddenly craved to have that kind of family love again. Being a single parent can gnaw at your heartstrings sometimes. It gives me a pretty enormous sense of joy to see it in so evident in another family though. Thanks to Emma Pointon for second shooting with me :)
Congratulations you two xo
